Jane is an ICU nurse who also happens to be a creator of creepy dolls. Jane's dolls can be found at fairs and spooky festivals that she travels around to. In addition to the fascinating and spooky dolls (each one unique!), Jane also creates other fascinating craft, such as scorpion charms and more!

How did you come to create creepy dolls?
I've always been obsessed with Halloween and horror movies. I was looking for a crafting hobby to keep my mind off of the stress of nursing and bought a bunch of Halloween crafting supplies. I started making Halloween wreaths. Then I was looking for something creepy to put in the wreaths and decided a creepy doll would be perfect. I bought a couple dolls from a thrift store and started painting. And decided making the dolls was a lot more fun than making wreaths. I've always been into art, I sculpted a lot as a teen. But making the dolls was perfect for my love of horror.

What goes into creating a creepy doll? And how long does it take?
I take everything off, the hair, clothes and eyes. Then I clean them with alcohol. I add teeth, horns, facial features etc. with an epoxy clay. The first layer of paint is spray paint for a base. Then lots of layers including a crackle paint. I finish with a clear coat spray. The clothes are dyed and I glue in new eyes. I use all different mediums for hair, different yarns, sheep, goat and alpaca hair. I only know what they will look like when they are finished. It takes about a week to finish one.

Please tell us about your scorpions!
I started seeing beaded spiders on Pinterest and Etsy and tried to make my own. It took some trial and error but I eventually figured it out from tutorials on YouTube. Then I started seeing the scorpions so I gave them a try. Now I can't stop buying beads everywhere I go. It is a lot of fun picking different bead combinations to try! And I think they are so interesting.

What is the most gratifying feedback you've received from a customer?
I love when people come back after buying a doll at a fair and come find me at other fairs to buy more. And I love when little kids buy them. The parents will message me sometimes that the kid carries the baby around with them everywhere. That is definitely gratifying.
