How did you come to start these innovative books?
Inkwell and Pen was established in 2020 by authors Donald W. Catchings, Jr. and Rachel Catchings as a way to publish great books to readers of all ages. Together with our children, we created an additional pen name, H.A. Harper, and have published children's books, coloring books, poetry, and fiction.
Who does the illustrations?
Inkwell and Pen has had the opportunity to work with several talented illustrators both locally and around the world.
Tell us about your newest release — "Too Many Things to Tie Up."
H.A. Harper's newest release, Too Many Things to Tie Up, is a collection of silly poetry for kids and was written almost completely by our eight-year-old daughter, Harper. As a fan of Shel Silverstein, she was inspired to emulate his quirky wit and entertaining style of poetry.
In what way do you hope to inspire the children of today?
We hope to inspire children to enjoy reading, pursue using their imaginations, and explore their creativity. We would love for our stories to encourage children to laugh and have fun.
