At what age did you start writing?
I have always loved to write from the moment I could hold a pencil. When I was very young I would make short stories on paper, but it wasn't until I was about 11 when I started writing my BBLS series digitally.
Please tell us about your recent novel "The Harpers' Holiday Horror."
This is the sequel to BBLS. It continues with the mischief and adventures that the Harper and Emerson family can't seem to stay away from, but this time it's worse than ever - the Harper kids' grandmothers, Pearl and Agnes, (who are the ring leaders of the craziness), have come to visit them for the holidays.
In your bio you tell about how it all started with the game you used to play with your little brother: "Big Brother Little Sister," in which he gets to pretend to be the older one. What was the funniest role-playing scenario the two of you have played?
Playing school was always very fun. We would pretend to be students in a class learning how to write books. We would staple them, illustrate them, color the pictures we drew, and read them to each other.
It's very inspirational how you donate to children's hospitals. What originally inspired you to get involved in this charitable endeavor?
It has always seemed very unfair to me how some children need to be in the hospital while others get to be enjoying this book, so I wanted to just make sure that everyone has access to the fun adventures of Matthew and Aaliyah Harper.
You've spoken at school events and girl scout groups. What is your main theme of inspiration for younger kids?
I would hope to motivate my younger audience to learn, read, write and use their imaginations to make great things like I did. I've come across many children who loved my book and it makes me happy to see.
Are you planning to publish a third Harper Family novel?
I would hope to see another book in the BBLS series in the future. I do have some ideas for it, I'm mostly just trying to figure out my time management.
